Getting my scrap on!

I've been kicking some scrappin' butt lately! LOL Just this month, I've done a few dozen pages, and it's only the 20th! And that's with 4 children, and one is a nursing 3 1/2 month old! I've been doing some scrapping during the day, when River is taking her nap and Wyatt is asleep either in the swing, or in the Moby.

It's getting more difficult this way though, because he is getting so big. It's getting harder to see over his head and to reach around his "body bump" to cut paper and stuff. Most of the pages are done when I go to crops. I bring Wyatt with me, but Brian watches the girls. Wyatt is so well behaved at crops. Most of the time you wouldn't even know there was a baby there! A few pages were even completed while nursing or holding him! :)
I've been getting some pages done at home during the week after he goes down for the night, around 10 pm. But since the older girls are still in school, I can't stay up too late when my alarm goes off at 5:40 am. Luckily, they get out of school on the 25th, so then I'll be able to stay up late and scrap because then I can sleep in!

This layout took a few hours over 2 days to complete because I kept getting interrupted!
I managed to make my friend Becky a birthday gift last Thursday night. It took me a few hours, but I love the way it turned out! I'm thinking of making more in different colors/themes and trying to sell them... something I can do at home in my free time and something I enjoy doing.

Speaking of the end of the school year... I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. As the kids get older, the years get shorter! Kelcie turned 13 in February. She's certainly growing up, especially with the full-blown teenager attitude! Could definitely be worse though! She's a pretty good kid ;) She'll be in 8th grade next school year.

She took HomeEc this year as an elective and was pretty excited about it. They made pizza, cookies, and pretzels. They learned how to follow a recipe and make the items from scratch.
The Saturday before Mother's Day, I was at a crop most of the day with Wyatt, getting my scrap on. Kelcie decided she wanted to make cookies, so Brian told her to pick all the ingredients she would need while they were at the store. She made a few dozen cookies, and while some of them were funky looking, they were all delicious! She made them completely by herself with a just a little help from Brian with the oven. I was so proud of her! Maybe some day soon she'll be making us dinner too! LOL

Marina turned 9 earlier this month and will be going into the 4th grade. Since this is the last few days of school, her class is having some fun activities every day. The other day was "mismatch day." I'd say this outfit qualifies as mismatched!! LOL

River is growing so fast! She'll already be 3 in August. She's just a cute little thing, and she keeps us laughing constantly with the funny things she does and says. She's talking so much more now!

Wyatt is almost 4 months old already! He gives us lots of smiles and loves to cuddle :)

New year, new challenges, new joys...

I have had this blog post saved to my drafts since January, and I'm just now getting around to posting it! I've edited the post and added some pics of our new baby boy!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'm only a few months late! LOL

Our Christmas was good... The kids got exactly what they wanted this year and we had a nice relaxing Christmas day at home.

January passed fairly quickly with just a few weeks to go before baby was due.

January 14, 2010

We finished getting everything ready for his arrival; we set up his bed, washed the car seat and bouncer and all of his clothes, had diapers and wipes stocked, set up the swing, and finally picked a name! Then all we needed was the baby.

My due date was just a few days away when the contractions started. Late on February 1st I started having some contractions that were a little more than uncomfortable. I was visiting a friend that night, and as I was driving home I noticed they were about 10 minutes apart. I got home around 12:30 am and warned my husband (who was still awake) that I was having some regular contractions. I started timing them around 1 am and by 2 they were about 5-7 minutes apart. I sent Brian to bed to get some sleep, knowing that the birth was coming soon. I was able to get about an hour's sleep sitting up on the couch between 3 and 4 am. Then I decided to try to sleep in bed, but the contractions got more intense and by 4:30 I woke Brian up to get ready for the hospital. My mom got to our house around 6 so she could watch our other kids while we were gone. On the way to the hospital I made Brian take a few pregnant pics, even though my contractions were only 3 minutes apart by then!

I was admitted to the hospital around 7 am and at 7:30 I was only 4 cm. Labor then progressed quickly and just three hours later, he was born!

Why so many names? Well, Wyatt was one of my top 3 name choices for quite a while, but Brian didn't like it unless his middle name was Earp, which I didn't agree with. So he went nameless for most of the pregnancy. About 3 weeks before he was born, Brian found a middle name to use with Wyatt. We both really liked Wyatt Xavier, so we finally had a name picked! The second middle name, Juddson, is in honor of my late grandfather (the name was actually my great-grandfather's). Brian figured since I got to add a second middle name, he could add a third (which, of course, was Earp). So our little boy went from no names to 5 in about three minutes!

He is just adorable! I love all the little boy clothes too. It's quite a change from all the pink around here!

He looked so much like River did when she was born, they could have been twins! We just couldn't believe how much they looked alike! Can you tell which is which?

I'm slowly starting to get back to scrapping after taking February off. Between nursing and diaper changes, I managed to do 4 and 5 pages each of the two times I've been able to scrap so far! Not too bad, IMO. I haven't taken pics of any of my recent LO's, I've been too busy taking baby pictures! LOL

Busy, busy, busy!

Since Halloween, things have been so busy! Between trick-or-treating, Thanksgiving, visiting family, planning for baby, and getting our Christmas tree up, I feel like we've been going non-stop!

Kelcie has been wanting to cut her hair for a little while now, and I suggested donating it to Locks of Love (Marina and I both donated our hair earlier this year). So after 10 or so inches, here's her new short 'do:

River is our budding entrepreneur :) Here she is "helping" daddy build a pedal!

A few days before Thanksgiving, we visited my grandma and aunt up in the desert. The kids and I had been sick earlier in November, but unfortunately Brian caught the bug the day before we visited, so he stayed home in bed.

Thanksgiving day brought more family visits. Brian's aunt visited us from Las Vegas. Too bad River wouldn't sit still for the pic :(

Marina got her first trimester report card a few weeks ago, and did very well (which we expected). The school had an awards ceremony this month, and she received 3 awards: Perfect Attendance, Honor Roll, and a special achievement award in Language Arts for her reading. She's reading about 24o words per MINUTE and the average 3rd grader is expected to read 80 wpm.

I got a surprise at a scrapbooking crop Dec. 5th, when a few ladies threw me a little baby shower! Everything was blue; very cute!

Our little pumpkins

Happy Halloween! I love this time of year; cooler weather, carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating... lots of fun things to do! We carved our pumpkins last weekend. Kelcie and Marina (with a little help from Brian) carved their own pumpkins:

River wanted nothing to do with them once she saw the "guts" inside.

It was her naptime anyway, so it kinda worked out that she didn't want to help. I put her down for her nap and I was able to carve my own pumpkin. :)

It's been a long week...

The last few days have been really draining on me. After discovering a problem with the Jr. High, I find myself wondering if I should homeschool my 12 year old. I have been mentally exhausted these last couple days asking myself what I should do. I'm hoping a resolution can be found so I won't have to make this decision.


On to better things...

Last week River had her first real bubble bath. She loved it!

She also said two new words this week: cookie (which sounds like "doo-dee" most of the time) and hide.



We went to the pumpkin patch on Tuesday. Unfortunately this is the only picture I got of everyone (well, except me since I'm taking the pic). River did NOT want to sit still for even a second! The pic is also blurry because I was in a hurry to take it so I apparently didn't wait for it to auto focus. :(

I managed to get a few of River when we visited the little petting zoo there. She wanted to feed the goats, but when they got too close she didn't want to anymore :) She did pet a few of them though.

This afternoon, Kelcie and River played in the front yard for a little bit while Kelcie was waiting for a friend to pick her up so they could study. I got a few good pics :)

And today I am 25 weeks pregnant and as big as could be:

Hopefully we'll go in tomorrow and get another ultrasound. Just can't get enough of seeing my baby boy!

Where have I been??

I've been a bad blogger... my last post was in June! That's a big gap considering I was posting weekly when I was on the Cuttlebug Challenge Design Team. So, where have I been and what have I been doing?

We found out in late May/early June that we are expecting our 4th child! And with pregnancy comes fatigue, which means lots of naps! Luckily my first few months were during the older kid's summer vacation, so I was able to sleep in every morning and nap almost every afternoon! Now things are much busier, so no 12 hour nights and no afternoon nap most days :(

The older girls have been back in school for 2 months now, and we are all pretty set in the new schedule. Kelcie (12 yrs) started 7th grade this year and is in Junior High! She is in the Magnet program, which is an accelerated program that includes Algebra and Spanish; classes that usually aren't offered until High School! She also has an extra class in this program, so she has a zero period that starts at 6:45 am! She and I have been getting up at 5:45 am!

After I take Kelcie to school, I wake Marina up (around 7 am) so she can get ready for school, which for her starts at 8 am. Marina (8 yrs) started 3rd grade and is in the advanced groups for both Language Arts and Math. Over the summer we got back their State test scores, and she scored 100% in Language Arts and 97% in Math! We are so proud of her!

River (2 yrs) celebrated her 2nd birthday over the summer... time really flies!
She is getting so big and independent! She's talking more and more too. Her latest thing has been repeating colors and numbers. It's the cutest thing hearing her "counting" her toes!





We had the big ultrasound appointment in September when I was 19 weeks. Everything measured perfectly, and all blood tests came back negative for birth defects. We also found out the biggest news: IT'S A BOY!


There's no denying it in these pictures! We are excited to welcome our first son in late January/early February!


As I did with River, I started showing early, and was huge by just 3 months! This pic is from September 17th, when I was just 20 weeks. I am now 23 weeks 4 days and even bigger, though I think I'm starting to look more "normal" for this stage :)


The girls are excited about him too! Marina and River especially :) River likes to pull up my shirt and give him kisses... it's too cute!

As if things weren't busy enough with 3 kids, another on the way and a new school schedule, I have been busy scrapping too! In July and August I managed to crank out 95 pages and 13 cards! Here's a few of the layouts I completed:

Well, that's about it.... our summer was busy, and it's going to be a busy school year too! I'm going to change the format of the blog a little bit. Instead of just scrapbook related stuff, I'm going to include short family updates as well. I'm planning to include an update and scrapbook layout in every post, so there's something for my family and scrapbook friends to see. LOL I figure it will be easier than trying to update 2 separate blogs! I'm hoping to update the blog more often, though I don't think it will be every week like it used to be. Maybe someday, when I have more time and energy, I will make a separate blog for the family updates, but for now this will have to do :)

Cuttlebug Challenge #36

Well, I missed Wednesday again.... The days are just flying by and before I know it, it's the end of the week! Here's my card for this week's Cuttlebug Challenge. This week's challenge is to create a masculine card by embossing on cardboard or grungeboard.

With the flowers and crystals it is a little girly, but in person it really doesn't seem girly at all. The flowers blend in with the cardboard and origami paper I used, so they're less noticable, but they really stand out in the picture.

Cuttlebug Be Inspired #34
