Cuttlebug Be Inspired #24

It's time for another Cuttlebug Challenge! I can't believe how fast the month has gone by... pretty soon it will be 2010!! Wow!

This week we were challenged to use a digital cupcake stamp download from Regina @ The Cutting Cafe. Digital stamps are images you download and print from your computer (instead of using a rubber or acrylic stamp) that you can do whatever you want with.... like watercoloring, adding glitter, flocking, embossing, etc.

I chose to cut my cupcake into pieces and use it as a template for a paper piecing for this LO:

Every year, I bring cupcakes to my kid's classes to celebrate their birthdays. I had this cute cupcake paper and thought it would be perfect for my oldest DD's cupcake pictures from this year. I used a sketch that was for 4 pictures, but when I went to print my pictures out, I discovered I didn't have enough! So, when I was thinking about what I was going to do for this challenge, I remembered this cupcake LO, and thought the digi stamps would be perfect.

I had 2 pictures that were good to use, but needed 2 more.... that's where I put my cupcake paper piecings. I printed out my cupcake of choice, cut it out, then traced it onto light brown cardstock. I cut out 2 whole cupcakes, and 2 of just the bottom portion. I took the 2 cupcake bottoms and cut a couple strips. I inked all the pieces and and popped the strips with thick Zots.

Then I took my cupcake print out and cut the top off. I then traced 2 cupcake tops out of dark brown cardstock. After cutting those out, I embossed them in the Cuttlebug using Swiss Dots, then added Stickles to look like sprinkles, and also to match the paper. :)

I used 3D foam squares to attach the cupcake top to the light brown bottom. I really like the way they turned out, and I think they are perfect for this LO!

More layouts done!

I've been slowing cranking out some pages.... it feels so good to get stuff done! I hope I can continue to be productive!

This page does triple-duty! I used sketch #43 from Creative Scrappers, did the March week 2 challenge from Paper Popsicles, and VC Bonus challenge #3 from Scrapbook Bingo.

For this page, I used a CTMH sketch and their Stardust paper pack. I loved this paper as soon as I saw it, but having only daughters, I didn't know if I could really use it. Well, my middle DD was in a performance at school last week, and the colors of her "costume" were a perfect match for this paper!

I like the way both pages turned out.... I love it when I'm productive AND happy with the result. LOL

Cuttlebug Be Inspired #23

This week's Cuttlebug Challenge is to use punches in a creative way. I used a 2" circle punch and created a scalloped border for this LO:

My middle DD with her cousin in Oct. 2006. It was so much fun to scrap with boy paper! I've never done it before! LOL (well, a couple LO's as gifts, but NEVER for myself!) I had so much fun using this paper.... I love the little airplanes :)

Cuttlebug Be Inspired #22

It's Wednesday again, so that means another Cuttlebug challenge! This week's challenge is to use glitter and Sassy Stamps. I created a LO for this challenge:

The butterfly is a Sassy Stamp zip file I downloaded and printed onto computer paper. Then I took a piece of acetate and traced the image with permanent marker. I cut two layers of acetate, and on the inside I adhered some fine stamping glitter. The circle under the "f" is embossed on the Cuttlebug with "Birds and Swirls" and inked with CTMH ink.

A few more swap items...

Well, I've been working away on my various swap items for Scrapbook Bingo. Just thought I'd share a few photos:

This is a title for the Everyday Living swap, Night Out group. I printed the title onto white cardstock, then sprayed with glimmer mist. I inked the edges with black StazOn and matted it with metallic DCWV cardstock, then inked the edges of the mat as well. A brad in each corner finishes it off.

This is the title for the Back to School swap, Elementary group. I printed the title onto white cardstock, then used pigment ink pads in Roy G Biv order. I carefully inked the very edge with black StazOn, then matted it onto green cardstock, which I also inked with black. An apple brad in one corner, and two eyelets with fiber threaded thru on the left complete the title.

Here's some pages from the 8x8 swap, Spring group. All patterned paper has accents of Stickles and "skittles." All edges are inked.

This is another 8x8 swap, Fall group. All edges are inked. I added some cute fall themed felt shapes and some gold eyelets on each page.

Cuttlebug embossing with Glimmer Mist!

Well, it's my turn to show a technique for Fab Friday on the Cuttlebug Challenge blog. I'll be showing you 3 different ways to use Glimmer Mist with Cuttlebug embossing.

Supply list:
Glimmer Mist
Cuttlebug embossing folder (I used D'vine Swirl)
Plates A, B, B
Cuttlebug
4 pieces of cardstock (approx. 5"x4")

For the first sample, I first ran a piece of cardstock thru the Cuttlebug using D'vine swirl. After embossing it, I sprayed Huckleberry Glimmer Mist on it:

For the second sample, I sprayed the Glimmer Mist on the cardstock before embossing it.

The first two ways produced very similar results.
For the third sample, I sprayed the embossing folder with Glimmer Mist first, then embossed my paper. (Don't worry, it washes right off!)

I sprayed the embossing folder liberally with Glimmer Mist and this was my result:
The cardstock was pretty saturated, but had a really neat effect. Some parts were darker than others, and the embossing is lighter. If you heat set this, the embossing should stay lighter. I let mine air dry over night, so the Glimmer Mist was more absorbed into the embossing.

For the last sample, I used the same technique (spraying the embossing folder directly), but this time, I sprayed just a little. My result:

Cuttlebug Be Inspired #21

Happy Wednesday! Today brings you another challenge from the Cuttlebug Challenge blog! This week's challenge is to create something with watercolors! I came up with this card:

Cuttlebug embossing using Skeleton Scroll

Twinkling H2O's

This was a quick and easy card to make! First, I embossed the front of the card with Skeleton Scroll embossing folder, then lightly inked the embossing with white pigment ink. In the bottom corner of the card, I created a cluster of Prima flowers.

I stamped 2 skulls and 2 crowns using Queen Kat stamps with StazOn ink onto white cardstock scraps. Then, I colored the images using Twinkling H2O's in Ruby Red, Jasmine, Icicles, and Mystic Blue. After the images were dry, I cut them out and added them to the flower cluster using foam squares for dimension. I printed a saying from the computer, tore the edges, and used Twinkling H2O's "Jasmine" on the edges. Added a few more flowers by the sentiment, and that's it! Easy peasy! :)

I really LOVE the way this turned out. I had a hard time getting a good picture though :(

I just love skulls and these little guys (or girls?) with the cute heart-shaped eyes are just so STINKIN' CUTE! LOL
